Louis's thoughts on Julius Caesar.
Why am I talking about Julius Caesar on independence day? Well as the old saying goes, those who don't study history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. I first started learning about him in depth in the sixth grade, about how he was abducted by Sicilian pirates, how he demanded they raise his ransom, he later had all the pirates crucified, how he kept winning battle after battle, how he quickly rose through the ranks of the roman government until reaching the title of "dictator for life", and how people who were concerned he was obtaining too much power eventually stabbed him to death. But what made his rise to power possible? Rome hated being ruled by Kings, so when their final King was overthrown, Rome became a republic. Instead of being ruled by a King, they were ruled by Senators, members of a legislative assembly called the Senate. Now, things may have worked out fine at first, but over time they too engaged in the very behavior as to why they overthrew their last King. They

Louis's thoughts on Sonic Unleashed
For years I've been telling people that although the Sonic franchise has it's clear problems there is more to it than what is obvious, and everyone just refuses to see it. But ever since the movie came out, I realized that I needed to do a better job practicing what I preach. I thought I would be screaming "WHY?!?!?!" over and over again while running out of the theater, but instead I thought "it had it's moments." My favorite moment was when they showed Sonic to his room, it would have made my late childhood hero smile. So then I wondered if I was perhaps wrong about some of the other works from SEGA. So I started watching the cutscenes of Sonic Unleashed. At first I thought this was a total waste of time. In the end, I haven't been this emotional over anything Sonic related since my childhood hero died. Now true, the gameplay is probably bad, sonic is stuck in a boring copy of the human world, the wherehog gives the impression that SEGA is running out of ideas, Amy being an annoying

I know we may have differences in the past, but the ability to disagree is in part a measure of freedom. What will our past disagreements matter when we are all forced to agree to something that we all know is factually and ethically wrong? What am I talking about? I just heard about something called "Project 2025" from something called the Heritage Foundation. This proposal reads like the Nuremberg laws. In order to, as they describe it "protect us from a radical agenda", they plan to remove many federal institutions and laying off thousands if not hundred of thousands of federal employees, reclassify all LGBTQ+ content as "pornography" no matter how benign, and criminalize being openly gay or trans. All of this to "protect children." Obtaining new knowledge and making proper adjustments in response is NOT a radical agenda, it's just learning. You know what IS a radical agenda? Being funded by dark money groups to distract people's rage from real problems towards the least
